2008 Fall Home & Remodeling Show
SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS ABOUND AT FALL HOME & REMODELING SHOW
In addition to the hundreds of home improvement and remodeling exhibitors, the 18th Annual Fall Home & Remodeling Show will feature an Interior Design Showplace, Time Warner Cable “Relaxation Station, “ the Ben Franklin Crafts Demonstration Area, the Solar Panel Replica House, the Milwaukee/NARI Information Center, and more.
This year’s event will be held Fri., Sept. 26 – Sun., Sept. 28, in the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park in West Allis. Sponsored by the Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc., the area’s leading home improvement and remodeling industry resource for more than 47 years, this year’s Show theme is “Dream...Design...Do!”
Design experts from three Milwaukee/NARI member companies, Carpet Town, Sherwin Williams Paints, and Trinity Design, will each take the same materials (white walls, full size mattress, box spring and frame, and two 24” x 24 cubes) and add their personal touch to create a dramatic 12’ x 12’ bedroom design. With display space built by Carl Krueger Construction and all painting done by representatives of Sherwin Williams Paints, the room displays will provide ideas on what consumers can do with similar materials in their own homes.
The Time Warner Cable “Relaxation Station” will enable Show attendees to recharge their batteries during their tour of the exhibit hall, plus catch that weekend’s sporting events.
The Solar Panel Replica House from Hot Water Products, Inc. will allow Show attendees to see how easy it is to heat water with the sun. This life-sized solar thermal system display will show homeowners how to incorporate an energy-saving solar system into their existing or new building. Tax credits, state incentives, high natural gas prices, and increased efficiency in solar technology have made these systems more economical than ever before.
The Milwaukee/NARI Information Center provides attendees with a central location to learn about the various components of the country’s largest home improvement council. Consumers will gain knowledge about Certified Professionals, Milwaukee/NARI’s ethical guidelines, government relations activities, and the Milwaukee/NARI Foundation, the association’s charitable and educational arm. In addition, one of NARI’s Certified Professionals will be available in the “Ask the Expert” area of the Information Center during Show hours to answer consumer inquiries relating to the home improvement industry. The association will also have available its marketing materials for consumers, including its Membership Directory and Resource Guide.
Ben Franklin Crafts will be conducting demonstrations and allowing attendees to create their own crafts projects several times each day at the Fall Show. After watching the demonstration, attendees will be able to build and purchase a No-Sew Pumpkin, a Kitchen Caddy, or a Mosaic Coaster. Four demonstrations will be done on Friday and Saturday (Noon, 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.) and three times on Sunday (11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.).
Presented by The Home Depot, children will have an opportunity to participate in a coloring contest, with winners in three age groups each receiving a $50 U.S. savings bond. The age groups for the contest are 3 – 5 years old, 6 – 9 years old, and 10 – 12 years old. Children will be able to color an official contest sheet, which will be displayed in the Show’s childcare area, with winners selected and contacted after the Show. The contest will be located in the childcare area on the second floor of the Wisconsin Exposition Center.
Sponsored by Callen Construction, people 55 and older will be admitted for $4.00 on Friday, September 26, for Senior Day, while Milwaukee/NARI is also conducting a Fall Show ticket giveaway on the association Web site, www.milwaukeenari.org.
